When using the python libraries (psycopg2, sqlalchemy) to connect to a postgres Cloud SQL instance I can't find the only table in my database. The cloud_sql_proxy notifies me that there is a connection going on and I get no errors when connecting to the database. The tables are just nowhere to be found.

This only happens when connecting through code. I can find the table when using the psql command line interface and the JDBC socket factory.

I followed the instructions on Connecting to Cloud SQL from external applications here. And I have tried using both libraries, both Unix and TCP and both production and local environments. All of these 8 combinations result in the same behavior.

Is this a problem with the python libraries? Is it a matter of user permissions? (There is only one database user which I used to create the table and populate it with data) Is there a configuration I'm missing in either of those fronts?
